I’ve long been a fan of beauty brand Sol de Janeiro. Shortly after it launched in 2015, I received the brand’s brightly colored, now-iconic Bum Bum Cream—and it took just one whiff to become hooked. I’ve hit empty on two tubs of the stuff, and have tried nearly everything from the brand, including the more recent launches, like the Brazilian Kiss Cupuaçu Lip Butter (incredible), and Beija Flor™ Elasti-Cream (highly recommend). And now, the brand has debuted yet another cream that I simply can’t get enough of—especially with summer right around the corner: The Rio Radiance Cream ($48).
The Sol de Janeiro Rio Radiance Cream is an illuminating body cream that offers all the glow without a speck of glitter. The ever-so-slightly tinted cream is infused with ethically-sourced mica (which, BTW, is a literal gemstone), moisturizing squalane, and brightening carrot seed oil.
The mica is what’s especially notable. In addition to giving skin a shimmering, diamond-like appeal, this ingredient also works to blur lines and diffuse the appearance of any textural issues. Because of this, the Rio Radiance Cream is already a summer beauty staple for me. It’s the perfect fast-drying formula for instantly-hydrated-looking legs that sparkle in all the right light. And it seems I’m not the only one to think so. Over 25,000 Sephora shoppers have loved the full-size product, while over 31,000 have given the mini size their stamp of approval.
The transformation is subtle, but you can tell that after a single application, the cream gives my skin a tinted boost—my skin, but a bit more glow-y (like I spent an hour on the beach, on vacation—how dreamy, right?).
Oh, and did I mention the scent? The cream is infused with notes of solar tuberose and leite de coco, giving it a beachy, summer vacation vibe (with a hint of sunflowers, IMPO) that truly couldn’t be more perfect for this time of year. I will say, the cream’s scent doesn’t last at full intensity for long—maybe an hour or so—but the good news is that SDJ knows just how alluring it is, so they released the same scent in spritz form. The Rio Radiance Perfume Mist ($38) is sold in regular and mini travel-friendly sizes, making it a must-have for your vanity and your purse.
