And in recent days there have been many players and former players of the club who have demonstrated in favor of the return of the traditional shield.
Now the partners will have the opportunity to once again express their opinion in a referendum that on this occasion will be binding.

The partners have not been alone in the fight to recover the symbol they understand to be true. There have been many players and ex-players of the club who have shown their support for the return of the shield they defended. Among them, some as important as the captain, Koke, and the coach, Diego Pablo Simeone, who published a photo on their networks celebrating a goal with the old shield. Koke began the claim and several more followed, such as Griezmann, who reviewed his goals as a rojiblanco from his arrival at the club until 2017 and footballers such as Giménez, Saúl, Correa, Pablo Barrios and even Camello, who has played on loan at Rayo Vallecano this season, have also given their support to the old emblem. Lola Gallardo, the goalkeeper of the women’s team, posted a photo with Amanda Sampedro, the former team captain.
The legends have also turned to supporting the fans in their defense of the traditional shield, the one defended by Luis Aragonés, for example, as a player and as a coach.
Kiko, Futre, Petete Correa, Villa, Gabi, other older ones like Raton Ayala and even some former soccer player who is now an employee of the club, like Fernando Torres, youth coach, have positioned themselves in favor of recovering the tradition. Some of them will be able to participate as members of the entity in the referendum that will decide if Atlético will once again be represented by the emblem that carries the Villa y Corte de Madrid inside.
