This inner corner shadow trick is here to level-up your smokey eye

There are so many ways that a smokey eye can go wrong. After all, if you go heavy on eye make-up, it’s high stakes – enter the TikTok beauty elite.

We’ve fallen victim to a lot of these high stakes pitfalls, because it can go really right, or really wrong. Smudges, clashing colours that should be vibing together, eyeshadow falling under your eyes – it’s all A LOT to consider.

So how can we make sure that we do it right? It all begins in the corner of your eye, apparently, according to two TikTok beauty extraordinaires.

We begin with @millyleer, who starts the process by applying a thick block of dark eye colour across the inner corner of her eye. She then shifts to the outer corner of her eye, which she lines more thinly with the same colour.

Next, she sweeps the dark colour across the curve of the top left corner of her eyelid, creating something of an outline for the smokey effect. Once you’ve got a good shape, connect and thicken the lines from one corner of your eye to the other and to the corner of your eyelid. Take it slow.

Use a paler colour (which one is your choice) to brush across the space between your darker lines. Blend blend blend the two colours. Watch below.

The Black Swan of TikTok herself @greta.mikki has a similar vibe going with her smokey eye tutorial. She lines the corners of her eyes with the deepest of black and contrasts the middle section with a much lighter colour, and we’re feeling it.

She sets off her look with fake lashes, shimmery foundation and brushed up brows. So it’s important to remember that a look doesn’t begin and end with the eyes.

That being said, where we start our smokey eye journey apparently counts for a lot, and it needs to begin at the corner of our eyes. Take note.
