This Is Going to Hurt features Paddington star Ben in the main role as a fictionalised version of Adam.

A skilled yet haggard trainee doctor, the TV version of Adam talks the audience through his gruelling experience as he works his way up through the hospital hierarchy.

The series will be slightly more dramatised than the original memoir, as the writer was wary of turning his story into a one-man show.

He continued: “To be fair I would watch Ben doing that, but we decided instead to round out the world and zone in on a particular time, which I found particularly interesting, on A ward.
