‘This is the biggest moment’ Terence Crawford drops hint over Errol Spence fight

Terence Crawford expects to fight Errol Spence Jr next in one of the most eagerly-anticipated fights in boxing.

Spence and Crawford, both among the best pound-for-pound fighters on the planet and undefeated champions in the welterweight division, have circled each other for a number of years without ever meeting in the ring.

The two have been persistently separated by promotional red-tape over the years. Spence, who holds the IBF, WBC and WBA titles, is promoted by Premier Boxing Champions who rarely work with other promoters while WBO champion Crawford was represented by Top Rank for a number of years.

Crawford’s decision to part ways with Bob Arum’s outfit following his 10th round knockout win over Shawn Porter last year however cleared the path with reports earlier this month claiming a deal is close to being agreed.

And Crawford insists there is no other fight to be made other than the one to crown an undisputed welterweight champion.

‘That’s the plan, ” Crawford told the DAZN Boxing Show when asked whether he is set to face Spence next.

‘I think the time right now is the best time because it’s for all the marbles. Errol Spence has got three of the titles. I’ve got one. It would be for the undisputed. There wouldn’t be no other champion in the division.

‘I feel like this is the biggest moment for us two to fight.’

Crawford, a three-weight world champion, has held the WBO title since 2018, defending the belt against Jose Benavidez Jr, Amir Khan, Egidijus Kavaliauskas, Kell Brook and Shawn Porter during that time having won all 38 of his professional fights.

Spence, who has a 28-0 record, also beat Brook to claim the IBF title back in 2016, adding the WBC and WBA straps to his collection with wins over Porter and Yordenis Ugas respectively.
