The best concert this long weekend featuring some of WA’s hottest acts will run over two days and won’t cost you a cent.

The much anticipated WA Day Festival starts Sunday with thousands of West Aussies ready to celebrate what makes this State great.

Over the next two days there will be something for everyone at the expanded event at Burswood Park and Optus Stadium with carnival rides, a two-night drone and fireworks shows, more than 80 food trucks, and plenty more of activities to enjoy.

Celebrate WA chairman Michael Anghie said the festival was easily accessible and encouraged families to take advantage of the free public transport with extra train services and to leave the car at home.

“Celebrate WA wishes to thank everyone who has helped plan and organise the WA Day program of events across the State this long weekend – a special thanks to all the amazing artists, entertainers, story tellers, businesses, sponsors and volunteers for their support in putting on this weekend for WA families,” he said.

“The WA Day weekend of activities and events celebrate the people of Western Australia and help us all to reflect on our collective achievements and ambitions.

“To help celebrate the day, the State Government has provided free travel across the entire public transport network for the two festival days of the long weekend, as well as running extra train services between Stadium Station and Perth, allowing for a hassle-free journey to and from the event.”

Australian Idol judge Amy Shark will headline the performers entertaining the crowds tonight alongside Baby Animals, Mark Seymour, and Voyager, fresh from their successful TV performance to millions at Eurovision.

Plus emerging local artists including Dulcie, South Summit, and teen self-taught multi-instrumentalist Mitch Santiago.

The four-piece indie girl band Dulcie said they were honoured to be playing alongside some amazing local and international acts.

“Here in WA, we have such a supportive and close knit community – especially in the music scene,” they said.

“We’re so excited to share the stage with artists from both home and over east. Having attended this event ourselves for the last few years, we know it’s always such a great opportunity to celebrate our state and showcase the artists that have been cultivated here.

“Can’t wait for the community to come together for this amazing event.”

South Summit, named Triple J’s “ones to watch”, said they were excited to share the stage with some huge acts.

“We can’t wait to play this great event for the WA community. It’s one of the biggest coming togethers for people in Perth,” they said.

“WA is our home, so to be able to perform on the day that celebrates our home, it’s definitely something special.”
