This Morning could soon see Phillip Schofield pushed out after Alison Hammond and Holly Willoughby impressed ITV bosses with their on-screen partnership.
Holly, 42, and Alison, 48, fronted the daytime show last month while Phil took a leave of absence during for his brother Timothy Schofield’s court case, which found him guilty of sexually abusing a teenage boy over a period of three years.
The temporary This Morning partnership was such a huge hit with viewers that bosses are said to be looking to pair them up more often.
One source spilled: ‘It was a super-clever idea to slot Alison in with Holly, and it worked so well.
‘It was a new dynamic for Holly who has starred with Phil almost every time she has appeared on This Morning for nearly 14 years.
‘The bosses are absolutely delighted with their decision to put them together and want to find ways to do it more often.’
They added to the Mail On Sunday that while ‘nobody’s supposed to discuss Phil’s future’ on the programme, it has been hot topic ever since Holly and Alison hosted together.
Earlier this month, however, insiders claimed that Holly is ‘loyal’ to Phil and that she would always be there for him and This Morning.
‘She sees it as her role to keep things going,’ a source added to the publication.
It was also reported that This Morning bosses were happy to have Phil back on the sofa following his brother’s trial.
A source told Mail Online: ‘Phillip is a much loved member of our team and we wanted to make sure we supported him.’
‘We are so happy he will be back where he belongs.’
Phil’s brother had charged with 11 sexual offences involving a child between October 2016 and October 2019 – including two of sexual activity with a child.
Following the guilty verdict, Phil issued a statement and said he ‘no longer’ has a brother.
