The duo were blasted as celebrities like David Beckham and Susanna Reid were pictured patiently waiting in line to pay their respects.

While ITV bosses have denied claims Holly and Phillip skipped the queue, which lasted 14 hours for many people, a petition to get the pair axed from television was created.

ITV shared a statement on Instagram on Sunday in response to the intense criticism.

It read: “Hello everyone, we would like to clarify something. We asked Phillip and Holly to be part of a film for this Tuesday’s programme.
