This Morning’s social media accounts fall silent over Phillip Schofield affair

Phillip Schofield announced his sudden exit from This Morning just over a week ago as eyes were suddenly focused on controversies surrounding him and co-host Holly Willoughby.

Almost a week later, Phillip released another statement where he admitted to having an affair with a much younger male colleague while he was married to his wife, Stephanie Lowe.

Since then, further accusations and claims have been made by Phillip’s former co-stars and those who have worked within ITV.

It seems This Morning bosses are hoping to say as little as possible at the moment, with a social media blackout seemingly put in place ever since the affair rumours were confirmed by Phillip.

While This Morning’s Twitter account and other social media sites normally post daily updates and highlights from the show, they have stuck to a unanimous silent stance since Friday, when the host confessed to the scandal.

This Morning’s Twitter, Instagram, and TikTok pages haven’t posted anything since the news came out.

The most recent share available on each is a clip from Australian supermodel Elle Macpherson, who joined the show for an interview earlier that day.

The social media silence comes as the controversy remains widely discussed by the public on each site.

Posts have flooded Twitter for days while both Holly Willoughby and Phillip Schofield remain trending topics on the platform.

More of the story has also unfolded through claims made by former ITV employees including Eamonn Holmes.

Eamonn gave an explosive interview with his current employer GB News and didn’t hold back as he slammed the broadcaster and Phillip.

Just some of the claims included ITV covering up Phillip’s affair, Eamonn’s wife Ruth Langsford still being in touch with the young man in question, who had been a runner on the show, and Holly “faking” close friendships with other This Morning stars in the wake of her apparent feud with Phillip.

Past clips from This Morning have also resurfaced which show the young man Phillip is thought to have had an affair with interacting with him.

One video shows the two drinking whiskey together in 2016 during the ITV magazine show.

In the segment, the runner had been dressed up as an elf on the show, which aired in the run-up to Christmas.

As Phillip and Holly sampled a whisky-themed advent calendar, Phillip turned to his colleague and asked: “Do you want some?”

As the runner tasted the whiskey himself, Phillip joked: “Let’s get the elf smashed!”
