After reports of a serious choking hazard, popular baby store Mushie & Co has issued a FRIGG pacifier recall.
More than 330,000 pacifiers are being voluntarily recalled after over 200 reports that the pacifier’s silicone nipple had detached from the plastic shield, according to a recall notice posted by the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission. Eight incidents were reported in the U.S. to Mushie & Co, in addition to 200 reports received by the manufacturer from international customers.
The issue? According to the recall notice, “the base of the silicone nipple has a fine slit that can cause the nipple to detach from the plastic shield, posing a choking hazard.” So far, no injuries or deaths have been reported in connection with the defect.
The FRIGG pacifier recall impacts two versions of Mushie & Co’s FRIGG pacifiers, both of which came in 0-6 month and 6-18 month sizes: the daisy design (which features a silicone nipple attached to a scalloped plastic shield), and the classic design (which features a silicone nipple attached to a round plastic shield). The affected pacifiers were sold in over 40 colors and have the name “FRIGG” stamped in raised letters on the handle of the pacifier.
The impacted pacifiers were widely sold, distributed by retailers including Mushie & Co, Amazon, TJ Maxx, SpearmintLOVE, Lil’ Tulips, and Olivia & Jade Company stores between April 2021 and December 2021.
If you purchased a FRIGG pacifier in this window, stop using the pacifier and contact the manufacturer. To get a full refund, cut the silicone nipple from the base of the pacifier (if it hasn’t already detached), take a photo, and submit to Mushie’s Product Recall and Safety Alert page.
