This ridiculously genius hack will get you an upgrade in any restaurant or hotel – and TikTokkers swear by it

The age old adage ‘fake it ’til you make it’ is working wonders for TikTokkers looking for a hotel and flight upgrade.

TikTokkers are pretending to be their own personal assistants in order to get a flight upgrade, better hotel room and snag a table at a fully-booked restaurant – and it’s actually pretty genius.

Tiktokker BlackBarbie49 recorded a video explaining how she’s been employing the tactic for a year and it’s been the secret to her success. 

Filming rather fittingly from her upgraded suite at a Four Seasons Hotel, she explains: “I got a lot of questions on how I get special treatment when I book flights, when I stay at luxurious hotels – like the Four Seasons right now. 

“Literally all you have to do is get a personal assistant.”

She goes on to explain that her ‘personal assistant’ is her grandmother – she literally uses her grandmother’s name and details as a guise of a personal assistant. “I use my grandmother’s name when I book with the hotels and instead of saying myself, Sydney, is booking a room or a flight or event, I say that my assistant is booking for me.”

She continues: “So, for some reason, when you’re booking luxurious restaurants or hotels, they will upgrade you, they will give you free snacks and champagne waiting in your room when you get here.”

Sydney says the hack works ‘literally every single time’ she uses it and says it has ‘changed her life’ since she started doing it a year ago after spotting it on someone else’s TikTok.

“You can do this via email or through the booking app or phone. That’s what  I do. Technically you’re not lying because technically you’re doing the work and reaping the benefits,” she maintains.
