Logan Roy can sell anything — including Quarter Pounders.
Fans are reacting to the news that “Succession” star Brian Cox has a semi-secret side hustle — as the voice of McDonald’s.
In fact, the distinctive-sounding Scottish actor has another voiceover gig with the Golden Arches this week, now that he has some time to spare — the hit HBO comedy-drama series drew to a close in May with its fourth season.
Cox, who can be heard on television singing the famous “Ba da ba ba ba” jingle, told People he actually sings “all the time,” and would love to give his pipes more of a workout professionally.
Cox, 77, has been the golden voice of the world-famous fast food joint since 2020.
His first commercial for the conglomerate aired during the Grammy Awards that year. Onions fall in slow motion onto closeup shots of a Quarter Pounder as Cox delivers the message with trademark gruffness.
But Cox admits fans would rather him act like the grumbling patriarch Roy.
“They’re more interested in me telling them to f— off [like Logan],” he said. “Human beings are so weird; we really are.”
The actor was recently seen on an episode of Carpool Karaoke: The Series with fellow Scottish actor Alan Cumming, which streamed on Apple TV+ in March. The two even belted a Spice Girls’ classic together.
The “Hannibal” actor isn’t the only one to lend their voice to popular brands.
Among the best known is Morgan Freeman, who can be heard on audiobooks, documentaries and Visa card commercials.
Meanwhile, actor Ving Rhames has the meaty voice currently linked to Arby’s. Rhames has made the fast food restaurant’s “We have the meats” slogan iconic with his deep, demanding style for nearly 10 years.
The “Mission: Impossible” franchise actor has held other narration gigs, such as introducing the New England Patriots and Atlanta Falcons in Super Bowl LI in 2017.
