This white concealer hack is going viral for its throwback ’00s aesthetic

The noughties called, they want their beauty hack back. 

Ultra white under-eye concealer is once again trending thanks to the peeps on TikTok mining the makeup archives and dusting off old-school trends for a modern do-over. This one though? Ehhh, we’re gonna need some convincing. 

Think back to 2009 and the beginnings of mainstream contouring. Tyra Banks and Eva Longoria would layer their foundation over the top of pale concealer to brighten up their under-eyes and create a contrast to the bronzy contour applied under their cheekbones. 

We started to want-in on the makeup wizardry glam squad’s would use to make their clients bone structure pop. 

And Kim K was busy building her future beauty empire by revealing behind the scenes shots of insider makeup secrets with fans. Anyone else remember the crazy contour shots she’d post to Twitter so we could all see what was what?

When it was good, it was very good. Imperceptible even. Like Spanx for your face, creating definition and structure to make everything look snatched. But when it was bad? Yeurghhh. Poor Eva suffered a white skunk stripe under her eyes while being papped when she forgot to blend it out. (Damn you, flashback). 

Now though, the trend is back on track, brought to you by Gen Zers selling the dream.

User @blumarinebae racked up over half a million likes in a vid showing the throwback trick back in action, applying white concealer in a triangle shape starting under her inner eye corner, sketching down the side of her nose and then taking the line all the way back to her hairline.

“Umm, it looks like a real mess,” she admitted, adding “wait 4 it” then skipping to an “after” shot of the concealer blended into her foundation and contour.
