The England international again appeared likely to be deemed surplus to requirements this season, having spent the previous campaign on loan at relegated Fulham.
Loftus-Cheek, however, has proved himself to be a vital component of a squad which has been stretched to breaking point in recent weeks as a consequence of injuries and the disruption caused by a Covid outbreak.
The 25-year-old, who will have two years left on his contract come the summer, has made 18 appearances in all competitions this season and been singled out for praise by his manager on several occasions in recent months.
Despite his increasing influence, Loftus-Cheek has been linked with a move to Juventus this week with the Italian club said be targeting the midfielder as a replacement for Arsenal-bound Arthur Melo.
Tuchel, however, is adamant Loftus-Cheek has plenty of reason to believe he will continue to cement his place as part of Chelsea’s long-terms plans and has no need to seek a fresh challenge.
Speaking ahead of Saturday’s game against Manchester City, he said: ‘We haven’t talked about it, he’s had a lot of game time, I would say.
‘If you look at the last years and look at this season, I think he’s had a lot of game time and lot to fight for here.
‘We talk about Ruben [and that’s] my personal opinion.’
