Three Scots villages listed as ‘poshest’ places as hotels & bars score top points

THREE Scottish villages have been named as some of the ‘poshest’ places across the UK.

Three locations across Scotland ranked high in The Times‘ list following an investigation into 22 villages across Britain.

The paper gathered the most “aspirational” areas for their newly published list.

And Braemar in Aberdeenshire, Craigellachie in Moray and Hopeman near Elgin all starred on the list.

The experts rated each destination out of a total of five stars and all of the Scottish locations scored at least three stars.

Craigellachie, known for it’s whisky, is best known for the historic Craigellachie Hotel – the country’s oldest whisky hotel.

Scoring one of the highest of all Scottish villages with four stars, it sits on a junction between the River Spey and River Fiddich.

Locals can enjoy scenic views along with numerous shops, hotels, inns and pubs in the area.

Braemar also came in high on the poshest villages list with a rating of four stars.

Sitting within Cairngorms National Park, The Times praised it for being one of the “busiest” villages in the country.

And it is also home to the incredible Braemar Castle surrounded by stunning views and landscapes with plenty of paths for people to walk through.

The village is also the host of the Braemar Gathering which have been dubbed the “best and most famous” Highland Games.

Hopeman received a total of three stars on the Times’ posh list thanks to it’s stunning harbours and sandy beaches which has numerous beach huts sitting on them.

It’s also home to numerous restaurants and bars, including Bootleggers Bar & Grill and the Salty Dog, and the incredible Hopeman Golf Club.
