Greater Boston’s bike network just got bigger.
The cities of Medford and Malden joined Bluebikes, the regional bikeshare program run by Lyft and sponsored by Blue Cross Blue Shield of Massachusetts, according to an announcement Monday.
The addition means six new bikeshare stations for a network that now totals 447 stations hosting 4,000 bikes.
“Introducing access to Bluebikes in Medford helps further connect our city and makes biking a feasible way to reach neighborhoods and destinations in Medford and across the region,” said Medford Mayor Breanna Lungo-Koehn.
The Bluebikes network now extends to a dozen communities surrounding Boston including Arlington, Brookline, Cambridge, Chelsea, Everett, Newton, Revere, Salem, Somerville, and Watertown, along with the newly added cities of Medford and Malden.
N.H. distributor fined $140K over exports to Russia, Ukraine
A New Hampshire-based laboratory equipment distributor has been fined $140,000 on 14 felony counts of failing to file export information on shipments to Russia and Ukraine between 2015 and 2019.
Intertech Trading Corporation, in Atkinson, pleaded guilty to falsely describing the nature and value of the exported items on commercial invoices and shipping forms, the U.S. attorney’s office in New Hampshire said.
In its plea agreement filed in July, Intertech said that it used false descriptions such as “lamp for aquarium” or “spares for welding system,” rather than accurately identifying the sophisticated scientific equipment actually contained in the shipments.
