Tickets for Arsenal’s upcoming Premier League match against Wolverhampton on May 28 are selling for as high as £53,000, with Gunners fans clamouring to be at a potentially historic day.
Mikel Arteta’s team is currently in pole position to clinch their first league title since the 03/04 season, standing eight points clear of reigning champions Manchester City at the top of the table.
However, with the chance of a momentous win in sight, some fans have already taken to resale sites as they look to make a huge profit, with the majority over £1,000.
A standard ticket in the upper tier, typically no more than £100, is available on a resale site for €28,409 (£25,013), a social media post has revealed.
Speaking on the issue of availability last month, a spokesperson for Arsenal said: “We will also be ramping up our ongoing work and investment to clamp down on ticket touting to protect honest match-going supporters. We recognise the demand for tickets is at unprecedented levels and we have been working to combat the activities by bots and touts.
“This has resulted in 100,000 suspected bots being blocked from the ticketing site in recent weeks. A significant number of season ticket and membership accounts have also been banned for suspicious touting activity.”
At the time of writing, the Gunners have around 40,000 season ticket holders, leaving just 20,000 tickets for the reported 40,000 silver ticket members, who pay £54 GBP per year to have second option on tickets for games.
