This offseason has seen some ridiculous NBA contracts, including a three-year, fully-guaranteed $128.34 million deal for Houston Rockets point guard Fred VanVleet.
This contract puts VanVleet among the highest paid players in the NBA in terms of yearly salary.
VanVleet, a one-time NBA All-Star, is now set to earn more over the next three years than one of the most dominant athletes of all time: Tiger Woods.
The NBA guard’s $128.34 clocks in at $20 million more than Tiger made in his entire PGA Tour career, per golf insider Kyle Porter.
Just catching up on some NBA free agency nuggets, and it appears that Fred VanVleet will make $20 million more over the next three years than Tiger Woods made on the PGA Tour in his career.

PGA Tour paydays have been a huge topic of discussion recently due to the emergence of the LIV Golf series, which shells out massive paychecks for players regardless of tournament results.
Tiger’s sustained dominance through the late 90s and 2000s grew the game of golf tremendously and helped improve tournament purses to the what they are today.
While the all-time great golf icon didn’t make as much as current NBA players in terms of career earnings, his value as a brand saw him rake in ridiculous quantities of cash through endorsements.
Including his PGA Tour-record $121 million earnings, Tiger has collected $1.8 billion over his playing career. Forbes certified him as a billionaire in 2022, making him and LeBron James the only active athletes with that distinction.
