Fight-eight players will hear their names called during Thursday’s NBA Draft. Jordan Haber probably won’t be one of them, but it’s technically possible.
Although the 21-year-old content creator didn’t play basketball at the University of Florida, the law student realized he met the NBA’s eligibility requirements when studying the league’s collective bargaining agreement.
What started as a bet with friends turned into the NBA approving his paperwork and admitting him into the draft pool alongside Victor Wembanyama and Scoot Henderson.
“I am now Jordan Haber, member of the 2023 NBA Draft class, uh, soon to be undrafted class,” he said in a TikTok video with over 3 million views.
@haberjordan Hi @NBA looking forward to going 1st overall #nba #nbadraft #nbadraft2023
The Miami Heat fan has since posted follow-up videos from New York City and will attend the draft. However, he probably shouldn’t expect an invitation to the green room.
“I think when I walk into the Barclays Center, I will get pretty emotional just because of how far this has come,” Haber told ABC News. “It’s what you dream of as a kid, like that small chance you get drafted. I want to show people you can do anything if you just set your mind to it.”
Without much of a scouting report on Haber, it’s unlikely a team takes a chance on him this Thursday. The 2023 NBA Draft starts at 7:30 p.m. ET.
