Tiku Weds Shuru trailer launch: Kangana Ranaut reveals that this film was earlier called Divine Lovers; was launched in 2016 with Irrfan Khan and her in the lead : Bollywood News – Bollywood Hungama

The trailer of Tiku Weds Shuru was launched today at an event in Mumbai and it was graced by actors Nawazuddin Siddiqui and Avneet Kaur, producer Kangana Ranaut and Aparna Purohit, Head of Originals, Amazon Prime Video. In the introductory speech, Kangana revealed that 7 years ago, this film was launched with her and the late actor Irrfan Khan in the lead. She also explained why this Sai Kabir directorial couldn’t go on floors with the original star cast.

Kangana Ranaut revealed, “Honestly, this film is very special. Many are not aware but this film was launched before, 6-7 years ago. You all (the media) were a part of that launch as well. I was going to act in this film along with Irrfan Khan saab. At that time, the film was called Divine Lovers. Unfortunately, our director Sai Kabir fell ill and he couldn’t make this film for 3-4 years. When he decided to revive the film, a big challenge we faced was that Irrfan saab was no more. That demotivated us. Dusri yeh problem thi ki humein woh Kangana chahiye thi jo Kangana 10 saal pehle hoti thi…that Kangana who had the dream of a big city in her eyes and that Kangana who was hoping to be a part of Bollywood. So I told Kabir ‘Rehne dete hai. It’s not going to work now’.”

Kangana Ranaut continued, “However, just for fun, I sent the script to Aparna ji. They (Amazon Prime Video team) lapped it up. Within a few days of me sending the script, she told me, ‘Let’s do this’. Uske baad toh raaste khul hi jaate hai. It’s been an amazing collaboration. They take little credit for what they do and how their platform has become so successful. When I work with them, I feel that this kind of creative collaboration is (thanks to) good karma (laughs)!”

Tiku Weds Sheru will release directly on Amazon Prime Video on June 23.
