Fact Check-

We started our investigation by running a reverse image search on Google; the results led us to a website named the weather channel. According to the website, the video was published on 7 August 2020. It describes the video as Meteorologist Ari Sarsalari taking a close look at a severe storm as it moves in over Perth, Australia.

The video gives credit to Kane Artie and Severe Weather Australia. The date and location mentioned in the video were February 25, 2020 Perth, Australia.

Taking a cue from this, we ran a keyword search whose results led us to the same Facebook video posted by Kane Artie Photography on 2 August 2022. The caption of the video states, “What it feels like in Perth at the moment! Am I right? (Not for media use – licensing available via Severe Weather Australia) Captured in 2020.”

As mentioned, we searched for the same video uploaded in 2020. We found the exact same video posted on the same page. On 25 February 2020, Katie uploaded the video mentioning that he shot the video. The video was shot in Perth, Australia. He shot this view near the Perth Airport in 2020.

According to Kane Artie’s Instagram account, he is a photographer from Perth, Australia who clicks landscape, time lapse and drone shots. Kane has also uploaded the viral video on his Instagram account.

Thus, it is clear that the viral video is neither recent nor from Bangalore. The video was shot in Perth, Australia on 25 February 2020.
