Pizza delivered straight from the subway? That is what is being offered by a new collaboration between Pizza Hut and the new animated feature film, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Mutant Mayhem. Ahead of the release of Seth Rogen’s new Turtle adventure, the pizza company is trialling a new delivery service that will see pizza deliveries being carried out via the underground, just the way the heroes in a half shell like it.

Pizza has always been synonymous with the crime-fighting team of amphibians, and the well known pizza chain is taking the chance to cash in on the franchise’s return to the big screen. In a new video, Pizza Hut revealed that they have been using Manhattan subways to make test deliveries of everyone’s favorite cheese-topped meal.

In a press release about the collaboration with the Ninja Turtles, Pizza Hut’s chief marketer Lindsay Morgan noted:

“Pizza Hut and Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles have a longstanding history that goes back to the ’90s. Bringing the two together again for a new generation was a no brainer. With this new collaboration, we wanted to pay homage to the Turtles’ origins and their love of pizza, while also infusing modern touch points and a fun, creative take on pizza deliveries – in real life and through augmented reality gaming.”

Having been around for four decades, the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles have been seen in many forms, from their original comic book adventures, though live-action movies, cartoons and videos games. Every fan has their idea of what makes a perfect Ninja Turtles adaptation, but with many of those ideas being different it is not always easy to the hit the demographic head on.

Mutant Mayhem could buck a trend and may well be one of the best Ninja Turtle films of recent years. Seth Rogen is a life-long fan of the franchise, and it seems to be showing considering the praise heaped on the humor and action of the newest outing of the four brothers. Whether general audiences feel the same about the movie is something that we have over a month to wait to find out, as Mutant Mayhem does not hit cinemas until August 2. The movie’s synopsis reads:

“In Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Mutant Mayhem, after years of being sheltered from the human world, the Turtle brothers set out to win the hearts of New Yorkers and be accepted as normal teenagers through heroic acts. Their new friend April O’Neil helps them take on a mysterious crime syndicate, but they soon get in over their heads when an army of mutants is unleashed upon them.”

Rumors have suggested that Paramount are looking to massively expand their Ninja Turtle slate, with a new TV show linked to Mutant Mayhem, and a new live-action movie being just two of the projects being discussed. The success of Mutant Mayhem would certainly help push those and other projects along, and for turtle fans everywhere, you just can’t get enough Ninja action.
