A crinkle swimsuit will become one of your most-worn buys for poolside, beachside or balcony-side summer days this year. Trust us. If you’re looking to upgrade your swimwear selection for 2023, the fashion set’s favourite quirky seersucker texture will make you feel a million dollars. It’s the fabric all expensive-looking swimwear has in common. At once managing to be soft yet strong, a crinkle fabric will elevate your look into something styled (rather than just slung on).
Remember the cut-away mini-dress Julia Roberts wore in Pretty Woman? It was actually a crinkle-style beach dress from iconic swimwear brand, Hunza G, who have experienced something of a wild resurgence lately. Their one-fit size guide crinkle swimsuits (and bikinis) have been spotted on all our fave fashion influencers and fashion editors, available in a plethora of rainbow hues.
Hunza G’s Domino style swimsuit is a cert for all your summer swim occasions (and also looks brilliant as a bodysuit, too). We also love the one-shoulder green Nancy style too, and if you’re up for investing in a designer crinkle bikini, Marysia have a scalloped seersucker bandeau bikini top (find the matching briefs here.)
Crinkle swimsuits are absolutely everywhere right now, so much so that Net-A-Porter has an entire section of their website dedicated to seersucker swimwear. It’s no surprise, then, that with a demand so high that the trend has trickled down to brands like Accessorize, & Other Stories and River Island. Extra perk: shop for a swimsuit on the high street and you’ll have more money to spend on your actual holiday/travels. Smart.
Arket’s square neck crinkle swimsuit looks endlessly more expensive than it actually is, as does this bandeau iteration from Boden (which is currently on sale if you’re quick, FYI). Elsewhere, we’d bet good money that this high-leg halterneck crinkle swimsuit will sell out before summer even starts. A cut-out swimsuit that’s rendered in a crinkle fabric? The perfect 2023 formula.
Obviously, you don’t need more than a few dollops of SPF – and a sun hat – to go with your swimsuit, but consider a pair of sliders/sandals, a beach bag or basket and a midi summer dress that matches your crinkle swimwear as the ultimate accessories. We’ll see you by the pool (or in the park).
After more swimwear content? Head this way for modest swimwear and over here for maternity swimwear. We’ve also got period swimwear, bikinis for small chests, bikinis for big boobs, beach cover ups and long sleeve swimsuits.
