‘Toi et moi’ will be the most popular style of engagement ring this year, thanks to a slew of celeb fans

While the three-stone engagement ring has been tradition for some time, it’s time to make way for the ‘toi et moi’ two-stone trend. 

Translated from French to ‘me and you’, it allows two different stones to sit next to each other, which can be you and your partner’s birth stones, or could mix two stones that are significant to each of you. Emily Ratajkowski’s two-stone engagement piece for instance, has slowly made its way to the top of every fashion girl’s wishlist. 

Emily is not the only celeb to boast this incredible – and quite personal – ring style. Megan Fox’s engagement ring (American rapper Machine Gun Kelly proposed to her this month) is set with her birthstone, an emerald, and his birthstone – a diamond, no less. Gorgeous, and very romantic.

Above all, the two stones on the ring symbolise the union of two lovers – SO romantic, and gives room for you to bring a little bit of your relationship with your partner to the ring.

The ring style – also enjoyed by Ariana Grande and Kylie Jenner – may look like a vibey, modern take on the more traditional 3-stone, but it is in fact a very traditional engagement ring look, harking back as far as the early 1700s.

Representing the love between two people, it’s a particularly brilliant way of incorporating a diamond that you’re a little tired of, or a family heirloom stone, in a totally fresh and alternative setting.

Jackie Kennedy designed her own toi et moi engagement ring, while Arielle Charnas, of Something Navy fame, re-set her original emerald cut engagement ring into a toi et moi, introducing a heart-shaped diamond to sit alongside it.
