Korean-Japanese actor Soji Arai has been cast in season 2 of the HBO Max series Tokyo Vice.

According to Deadline, the second season of Tokyo Vice has cast actor Soji Arai, who received praise for his work as a series regular in the Apple TV+ series Pachinko. Shingo, an editor/journalist and the romantic interest of Emi (played by Rinko Kikuchi), will be portrayed by Ara.

Tokyo Vice season 2’s portrayal of the Tokyo police force is anticipated to gain new depth and authenticity because of Arai’s addition to the ensemble. Arai’s prior work has demonstrated his capacity to present complex and riveting portrayals, making him the ideal choice for the gritty tone of the show.

Based on the same-named memoir by American journalist Jake Adelstein, Tokyo Vice is a crime thriller television series produced in the United States. The program centers on Adelstein’s adventures covering crimes for the Tokyo newspaper Yomiuri Shimbun. The series’ gritty depiction of the Tokyo criminal underworld garnered favorable reviews when it made its HBO Max debut in April 2022.
