NFL legend Tom Brady is giving the quarterback sack to long-standing reports of his supposed close friendship with former U.S. President Donald Trump.

Their relationship was underscored by a 2015 photo of Brady’s locker revealing a “Make America Great Again” hat.
But Brady told Variety he and Trump had only golfed together on a number of occasions.
“This was 17 or 18 years ago,” Brady, 44, told the showbiz bible. “I was so young. I got to go to a private golf course. I thought it was the coolest thing in the world.”
He added: “I haven’t talked to him in a lot of years.”
Brady, the Tampa Bay Buccaneers ageless slinger, said some media “mischaracterized” the relationship.
“And my personality isn’t ever one to insult anybody. I have plenty of my own flaws. I’m not here to point out anyone else’s flaws,” Brady said.
“There are things that I agree with. There are things that I don’t. There are things I agree with my wife about. There are things that I don’t. I love her to death, but we don’t always see eye to eye. I don’t see eye to eye with anyone.”

He added: “And I’m not responsible for what other people say. I’m really responsible for what I say. So if people want to say things that I said or that I’m about, that’s up to them, and I’m not going to respond to all those things all the time either.”
At the time of MAGA-GATE, Brady told Boston radio station WEEI that Trump had sent him the hat, adding: “He always gives me a call and different types of motivational speeches at different times. So now that he’s running for president, he sent me a hat, and he gave it to (Patriots owner Robert Kraft) a couple weeks ago. So it found its way to my locker.”
Brady went on to say that he found Trump’s ascendancy “pretty amazing” and noted “he’s a hell of a lot of fun to play golf with.”
