Tom Grennan subject of terrifying unprovoked attack which left him hospitalised

Singer Tom Grennan was the subject of a robbery and assault on Wednesday night following a gig in New York City, his agent confirmed in a social media statement

Tom Grennan has revealed he was the subject of a terrifying attack and robbery on Wednesday evening which left him needing hospital treatment.

The singer-songwriter, 26, confirmed he was set upon following a performance in New York City and has had to cancel his Friday night gig in Washington DC as a result.

Taking to Twitter and Instagram on Thursday his manager John Dawkins released a statement.

It read: “In the early hours of this morning after Tom’s New York show he was the victim of an unprovoked attack and robbery outside a bar in Manhattan.

“Tom is currently in hospital being assessed by doctors for his injuries which include a ruptured ear, torn ear-drum and issue with his previously fractured jaw.

“Despite this Tom is in good spirits but needs to temporarily recuperate whilst doctors assess his ability to continue with his touring.”

The statement continued: “Tom is desperate not to let anyone down, however we have taken the precautionary decision to postpone the Washington show tomorrow to a later date, with details to follow.”

It concluded: “We wish to thank Tom’s incredible US fans for their support and understanding.”

John confirmed they will keep fans up to date with any further changes to his tour, which has three more scheduled performances stateside over the next week.

A month later he is set to begin the UK and Ireland leg of his tour, which is due to kick off in Cork on May 31.

The statement was met with an influx of well wishes and comments on how shocked his fans and friends were over the attack.

Among those messaging wit BRIT Award winner Sam Fender. The Geordie star said: “F*** sake, hope you’re okay dude x”

Singer Becky Hill also commented: “Holy f*** tom i’m so sorry wtf that’s awful.”

And presenter Laura Whitmore also added: “OH God Tom I’m just seeing this! Jesus hope you’re ok. Sending love xx.”






Celebs and fans alike sent Tom messages of support

Tom had previously been re-sharing clips to his Instagram Stories from fans who had been at his New York gig.

In them he’s heard playing a number of his hit songs, including his first UK Top 10 hit Little Bit of Love.

He posted a clip himself of the crowd which had gathered and thanked them all for attending.
