“Your love and support means the world to me.”
People across the US flocked to movie theaters over the last few days to watch Tom Holland, Zendaya, and the rest of the Spider-Man: No Way Home cast in the third installment of Marvel’s popular trilogy.
Even Kim Kardashian and Pete Davidson reportedly caught a showing of No Way Home during its opening weekend. But they certainly weren’t alone — the latest Spider-Man film has generated incredibly high ticket sales since it hit theaters on Friday, while also receiving positive reviews.
The box office numbers were really impressive, as Spider-Man broke records both domestically and abroad. It’s already the top-grossing movie of the year in North America, and its first weekend marked the third-biggest global debut of all time, according to Box Office Mojo.
Tom — who stars as Spider-Man: No Way Home‘s titular superhero alongside Jacob Batalon, Benedict Cumberbatch, Benedict Wong, Jon Favreau, and Jamie Foxx, in addition to Zendaya — celebrated the movie’s success with a gratitude post on social media.
“Wow guys I can’t believe these [numbers],” the actor wrote on Instagram yesterday, referencing the box office projections that rolled in ahead of this morning’s formal reports.
“You made this possible,” his caption continued. “Your love and support means the world to me. Thank you thank you thank you and if you haven’t seen Spider-Man: No Way Home yet…merry Christmas and you know what to do ♥️.”
Amid responses from thousands of fans that surfaced in the comments section of Tom’s post were congratulatory remarks from celebrities like Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson and Simu Liu, who we know from Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings, another record-breaking Marvel movie that debuted earlier this year.
Congrats to Tom, Zendaya, and their costars. Have you seen Spider-Man: No Way Home?
