Spider-Man star Tom Holland has not been seen in the Marvel Cinematic Universe since his 2021 blockbuster Spider-Man: No Way Home. In the movie, he delved into the realms of the Spider-Verse when he summoned two other Spider-Man actors to battle against his foes, Andrew Garfield and Tobey Maguire. And a new report says he’ll be joining an even bigger Spider-Verse fight in the next year.
The report claims that Holland will be rejoining the Spider-Man series in Sony’s animated film series.
A “number of sources” have confirmed that Holland’s version of Peter Parker will make an appearance in the upcoming Spider-Verse sequel: Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse, which is due out on June 2, 2023.
The movie is the follow-up to the 2018 Oscar-winning blockbuster, Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse. The first film in the series introduced such iconic comic book characters as Miles Morales, Spider-Gwen, Spider-Ham, and Spider-Man Noir.
Holland’s iteration of the character would certainly fit right into the series, and now that Sony and Marvel are playing ball, they could be set to make a lot more money with his appearance.
The British actor is not the only character set to join the animated franchise, however.
The report, which comes from The Cosmic Circus, also added that Holland will be joined by the Sony PlayStation Spider-Man.
This hero was introduced in the 2018 PlayStation 4 game Marvel’s Spider-Man, before making a comeback in 2021’s sequel, Marvel’s Spider-Man: Miles Morales.
The video game character’s inclusion is not a massive surprise, considering a new actor was recently hired to be the new face and voice of the hero going forward.
Holland’s inclusion in the series follows his comments about being asked to join the series by Sony boss Amy Pascal.

Holland told GQ back in 2021 that he did not have any more Marvel movies in his contract.
He added: “Maybe it is time for me to move on. Maybe what’s best for Spider-Man is that they do a Miles Morales film. I have to take Peter Parker into account as well, because he is an important part of my life. If I’m playing Spider-Man after I’m 30, I’ve done something wrong.”
With that said, there have been countless rumours over the past year regarding the return of Holland, as well as his new cohorts, Garfield and Maguire.
On top of that, Across the Spider-Verse has been rumoured to introduce a collection of new heroes to the mix, as well.
Included in this slew of new characters is Jessica Drew’s Spider-Woman, Scarlet Spider, Supaidaman, Spider-Punk, Cyborg Spider-Woman and Spider-Man: India.
These are all variations of the hero who have made appearances in the comic books for years, and will finally get their own battles on the big screen.
Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse is due to hit cinemas on June 2, 2023.
Tom Holland’s Spider-Man trilogy is available to watch on digital download.
Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse is available to watch on Disney Plus.
