The Phoenix Suns have plenty of candidates to consider when replacing the recently fired Monty Williams. Tom Izzo almost certainly isn’t one of them.
Because Suns owner Mat Ishbia went to Michigan State, DraftKings Sportsbook listed the longtime Spartans men’s basketball coach among its betting options for the NBA team’s next head coach.
Via Compare’s Kyle Odegard, Izzo is listed at +7500, the same odds as Isiah Thomas, Jeff Van Gundy, and Stan Van Gundy. A $100 wager would pay $7,500, but anyone would be better served investing or donating that money.

A sportsbook listing odds for Izzo obviously doesn’t mean there’s a realistic chance of it happening. Izzo has coached Michigan State since 1995, so there’s no reason to believe the 68-year-old would ever leave to take a new job.
Fifteen people have shorter odds than Izzo. Nick Nurse and Mike Budenholzer are the betting favorites at +300 each, followed by Tyronn Lue (+400) and Suns associate coach Kevin Young (+600).
TNT’s Chris Haynes identified Nurse, Budenholzer, and Young as three of the team’s preliminary coaching candidates.
