The 24-year-old edged past KSI in a scrappy six-round encounter despite having a point deducted, sealing victory on the judges’ scorecards to hand the social media star the first defeat of his boxing career.
Fury did likewise against Jake Paul in Saudi Arabia in February, securing a split decision win over the American.
That win earned Fury a ranking position with the WBC [World Boxing Council] but his hugely lucrative bouts against YouTube and social media stars have done little for his professional boxing prospects.
Fury has won all 10 of his fights to date with the majority of his past opponents holding poor records. Daniel Bocianski was perhaps the exception having lost just once prior to his defeat to the Manchester fighter at Wembley Stadium in April 2022.
By contrast, Przemyslaw Binienda and Genadij Krajevskij, Fury’s third and fourth opponents, have a combined record of 105 defeats in 107 fights.
Speaking after Saturday’s win over KSI, Fury indicated his plan is to leave the crossover boxing scene and resume his rise up of the professional ranks against legitimate opponents.
Dismissing the prospect of a rematch with KSI, Fury said: ‘He goes his way, I go mine. I’m done with all this s**t. All this crossover s**t. I’m not part of that, I’m here to fight and we go on to the next challenge now.’
In the same breath however, Fury insisted he would also welcome the challenge of a rematch against Jake Paul, also extending an offer to his brother Logan.
“I’m done with the bulls**t. F**k the bulls**t, on to the next challenge. Any of the Pauls want it I welcome it with open arms.’
Fury has made little secret of the fact that money has been the biggest motivating factor behind his fights against Paul and KSI but has insisted his true goal is to challenge for world title honours.
‘It’s easy money. Anybody else in my position wouldn’t turn it down. Even world champions. These YouTube fights are not my highest point in life. I’m here to do a lot more than that,’ Fury said.
‘Tyson first fought for a world title at 27, I’m still years off that. So I don’t know who is going to be around and whoever does have the belt, I want to challenge for it. 100 percent. I’ve not trained all my life [to stop now]. Don’t forget I was a boxer before this YouTube stuff came about. I’ve not trained all my life to get in the ring with a YouTuber and get a good payday. I’ve trained to be world champion. When all these fights have been and gone, I’m still going to pursue that.’
