Tommy Fury addresses pulling out of Jake Paul fight

Tommy Fury’ s promoter is still confident of rebooking a fight with rival Jake Paul for next year.

Fury was forced to withdraw from his December 18 fight with Paul after battling a chest infection and suffering a broken rib in training.

Paul went on to fight Tyron Woodley for the second time, brutally knocking out the former UFC champion in the sixth round.

Love Island star Fury has stayed off social media since releasing a statement regarding his withdrawal, admitting he is in the “lowest point” of his life.

Whilst refusing to commit to a rebooked fight with Fury, Paul mocked the Brit for fumbling “the biggest bag of his life” by pulling out.

But Fury’s promoter Frank Warren is confident they can reschedule the fight for next year despite Paul’s comments.

“Look, we want to get the fight on. Tommy wants it on, we’ve been talking and [Paul’s] management team has been talking to us,” he told iFL TV.

“Hopefully we can get resurrection and we can get it on, Tommy wants it and for the both of them it’s a fight they both said they’ve wanted.

“The public bought into it so I want to see it happen and I want to see it happen for Tommy.”

Paul claimed that since Quuensbury Promotions – Fury’s promoters – have not reached out to his team after knocking out Woodley.

“Just asked my team if we have heard from the Fury’s, Frank Warren, or Queensberry… not a f****** peep! Fumbles and fake f**** they are,” he wrote.

But Warren has disputed Paul’s comments, stating: “Before he even said that, there’s been discussions going on. He needs to speak to his because I can guarantee you there’s talks going on.”

Warren has praised Paul for his showmanship and has ranked him alongside Floyd Mayweather and Tyson Fury as the best self-promoters in boxing.

“Him, Floyd Mayweather and Tyson Fury, they’re brilliant promoters. They get behind and promote the shows,” he continued.

“Jake Paul you can’t knock him in that, the amount of fights he’s had, they are what they are but as a promoter, selling yourself and the fight, he’s in the top three of the world.

Paul plans to take seven months away from the ring after fighting four times in just 13 months but has been linked to a fight with Julio Cesar Chavez Jr.

The former WBC cruiserweight champion has demanded a 50/50 split after being offered $3 million to fight the YouTube star.
