Top college basketball picks and predictions today (Cowboys will upset Bears)
Kevinn Colleran
We are just days away from the best month of college basketball of the year, and conference tournament action officially begins today with the Atlantic Sun tournament set to tip-off tonight.
If you’re looking for picks for tonight’s slate, you’ve come to the right place.

Without further delay, let’s dive into my top three bets for tonight’s action.
With the Atlantic Sun Tournament starting tonight, it would be in poor taste to not bet on either game. So, I’m targeting Florida Gulf Coast to pull off the short upset against Queens.
Both teams are three-point shooting squads, ranking inside the top 35 in 3-point shot rate. But, what’s key is that FGCU is better at defending the three ball. Florida Gulf Coast ranks 141st in opponent 3-point field goal percentage, keeping teams to shooting 33.5% from beyond the arc.
Meanwhile, Queens has one of the worst perimeter defenses in the country, coming in at 294th while allowing teams to hit 36.1% of their 3-point shots.
I’ll take a chance on the Eagles as small underdogs.
North Carolina Tar Heels @ Florida State Seminoles | Current Best Odds
The interior of the Tar Heels is going to be the difference maker tonight against Florida State, and that’s going to be enough to lead them to the win and cover.
Florida State ranks inside the top 90 in college basketball in two-point shot rate. Now, they have to face a UNC team that’s 88th in opponent two-point field goal percentage.
UNC also has a huge rebounding advantage that can’t be understated. It’s a matchup between one of the best rebounding teams in the country and one of the worst. The Tar heels rank 24th in rebounding rate while the Seminoles rank 319th, grabbing only 46.9% of boards.
UNC has the stylistic advantage in this game, so I’ll back them to win with margin.
Baylor Bears @ Oklahoma State Cowboys | Current Best Odds
Baylor has the much better record this season, but there are a few red flags that make me lean towards the Cowboys in Big 12 action tonight.
The Bears rank 32nd in the country in 3-point shot rate, but now they have to face one of the better perimeter defenses in the country. When the Cowboys play on their home court, teams are only hitting 28.6% of their 3-point shots against them, that’s the 30th best mark in the country.
Baylor also struggles defensively on the road this season. The Bears are allowing nine more points on the road than at home, and teams have an effective field goal percentage of 54.3% against them when Baylor is away from its home court.
