Toronto Raptors all-star Fred VanVleet is opting out of the final year of his contract, setting him up to become an unrestricted free agent in July.

VanVleet declined his $22.8-million player option with the team, but can still negotiate a return to Toronto, which would likely be on a bigger and longer contract.

He becomes one of the top players on the market this summer and reportedly have the interest of several teams.
VanVleet, 29, has played his entire seven-year NBA career with the Raptors, and averaged 19.3 points and a career-best 7.2 assists last season, while ranking in the top 10 in assists-to-turnover ratio, according ESPN.
