Dillon Brooks thought he was going to swap jerseys — soccer style — with Kyrie Irving, following Monday’s Memphis Grizzlies win over the Dallas Mavericks.

But things ended up going strangely. Irving gave Brooks his jersey post-game, but didn’t grab the one Brooks offered in exchange. Brooks ended up holding two jerseys in his hands and social media had a field day with it. The two had engaged in a spirited, physical battle during the game, with Brooks often draped all over the all-star guard. The two were jawing with each other throughout the contest.

But afterward, both played down the botched exchange.

“I’m a fan of Kyrie, for everything he stands for, the way he uses his platform,” Brooks said.
“He’s just like Kobe. He’s just like Jordan and those guys. He plays the game at a different pace. He uses both hands, mid-range God. And that’s where I want to be at one day, be able to shoot the ball more.”
Brooks said he will sign Irving’s jersey and put it on his wall.
