Tottenham were left angered after one of their scouts revealed a transfer target during a live television interview.

Jeff Vetere was appointed by Tottenham director Fabio Paratici back in September but has now left the club following his error, according to MailOnline.

The report claims that Tottenham’s hierarchy were left ‘astounded’ after Vetere spoke about the club’s recruitment process, as well as some of the club’s targets.

It’s understood that Vetere resigned from his position following a formal meeting with Spurs, who were also willing to let the 57-year-old leave.

During his interview on Colombia’s Win Sports TV, Vetere identified Atletico Nacional’s 22-year-old goalkeeper Kevin Mier as a player who Spurs are targeting.

‘I see a goalkeeper who does not lack anything to cross the pond. We are looking because it is our task to see who the best youngsters are for international football.

‘Taking advantage of my stay in Colombia, I took the opportunity to go there [Nacional] and meet a goalkeeper who is important to me.

‘I think he’s going to play for the national side soon. He has things, for me, they are not normal for a boy of his age. I was surprised by his confidence and his handling of the ball.’

Vetere has previously worked at Real Madrid, Charlton Athletic, West Ham, Newcastle United and Birmingham City.

Until joining Spurs as part of their Under-21 recruitment set-up, Vetere had been out of football since he left Birmingham City as their director of football in 2018.
