Since his arrival, Postecoglou has breathed a fresh lease of life into Tottenham with his work behind the scenes and his conduct in press conferences. The ex-Celtic boss has never shied away from commenting on his desire to sign more players, as well as admitting that he was ‘not relaxed’ about Kane’s future.
Thus, the arrival of a German reporter showing off a Bayern strip with his striker’s name on the back with the number 9 was not a welcome surprise. According to BILD, their reporter, Max Schrader, has now been banned from press conferences by Spurs and also had his accreditation revoked.
The incident may not have gone to plan for Schrader either, with the journalist not getting the laugh he potentially thought that he warranted for the ‘prank’. The journalist initially began his conversation with Postecoglou by asking whether he was still ‘not relaxed’ about Kane’s situation, to which the Tottenham manager confirmed he still was still uneasy about the situation.
Schrader then lifted the Bayern ‘Kane 9’ shirt before asking “What does that look like? Quite good, no?” Postecoglou initially tried to move the situation on swiftly by replying: “I don’t know what you’re talking about.”
But after the press officer attempted to welcome a question from elsewhere, the Australian boss continued: “Did you get a good laugh for it? Got what you came to get? Maybe? Very good, you came a long way for that, thank you.”
