Tottenham closing in on £25m Yves Bissouma deal amid further talks

Tottenham are edging closer to securing the signing of Brighton midfielder Yves Bissouma for a fee in the region of £25million.

football.london reported last week that the 25-year-old was one of the candidates Tottenham were seriously considering to bolster their midfield. Having signed Rodrigo Bentancur in January, Spurs look set to add another midfielder to their ranks with the future of Harry Winks still in doubt ahead of next season.

Antonio Conte is set to be backed significantly this summer and reportedly wants to add a further four signings should the club complete the signing of Bissouma this week. The Mali international is set to undergo a medical on Thursday, with an announcement potentially coming by the weekend.

According to transfer guru Fabrizio Romano, Spurs will hold further talks with Bissouma’s camp this week to finalise the deal and bring the Brighton midfielder to north London. The club have fought off interest from the likes of Arsenal, Liverpool and Aston Villa and Bissouma looks destined to join Conte’s side this summer.

Liverpool and Arsenal considered a deal for Bissouma last summer, whilst Aston Villa failed in their attempts to sign the 25-year-old in January. Brighton signed Bissouma from French side Lille in 2018 and look set to receive a healthy profit should Spurs complete the signing of the Mali international.

Conte is keen to keep both Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg and Oliver Skipp at the club, with the Italian wanting at least four further signings, including two defenders, a creative midfielder and an attacker. Spurs begin their pre-season tour of South Korea in July, with Conte hoping to have all new signings in before the club travels to Asia.

The Lilywhites are reportedly confident of securing the return of Christian Eriksen on a free transfer whilst also registering a strong interest in Everton forward Richarlison.
