Tottenham confirm Dele Alli departure as Everton seal late transfer

Tottenham have confirmed the permanent move of Dele Alli, to Everton, marking the end of his time in north London.

The Toffees have signed the midfielder on a permanent deal, after Donny van de Beek also joined from Man United, with their two loan spaces from Premier League clubs now filled.

Dele has made just 10 league appearances for Spurs this season, scoring one goal, and has struggled to find a place in Antonio Conte’s regular line-up.

The 25-year-old was one of the midfield trio including Giovani Lo Celso and Tanguy Ndombele who were left out of Tottenham’s matchday squad against Chelsea, in the Lilywhites’ last game before the winter break. He will now hope to find his form again at his new club under the newly-appointed Frank Lampard.

Speaking about the move to Goodison Park, Alli said: “I’m delighted to have signed for Everton, a huge club with a great fanbase and history.

“I’m eager to get started and can’t wait for my first game in an Everton shirt.

“I’m looking forward to helping the team and the opportunity to work with the new manager Frank Lampard.”

A statement on the Tottenham website read: “We have reached agreement with Everton for the transfer of Dele Alli.

“Initially signed from MK Dons in January, 2015, and loaned back to MK for the rest of that season, Dele joined us at the start of 2015/16 and quickly established himself both at Club and international level.

“He won back-to-back PFA Young Player of the Year awards in 2015/16 and 2016/17, and earned a place in the PFA’s Team of the Year in both seasons.

“He went on to make 269 appearances for us in all competitions, scoring 67 goals over his seven years at the Club.

“We wish Dele all of the best for the future.”
