Tottenham are hoping to capitalise on negotiations with Bayern Munich to strike a deal for a target of their own. The North London outfit reportedly hold an interest in Mathys Tel and could be swayed into agreeing on a deal to sell Harry Kane this summer if the starlet heads in the opposite direction.
Spurs kickstarted the summer transfer window in fine fashion when securing the signatures of Dejan Kulusevski, James Maddison, Manor Solomon and Guglielmo Vicario. Ange Postecoglou is keen to continue his spending spree and has made it clear that he is keen for the club to also sign another midfielder and a central defender.
However, the ex-Celtic boss’ transfer window is about to take a drastic turn in an alternative direction. Bayern bosses are set to hold further talks with Daniel Levy about signing Kane and are preparing a fresh bid to land the England international, insisting to Spurs that the player wants the move.
Tottenham are prepared to entertain talks about the striker, and they may have a masterplan up their sleeve in negotiations. According to The Telegraph, Spurs hold an interest in Bayern forward Tel and have made enquiries about his availability already this summer.
Bayern are also aware of the interest and feel that he is the ‘ace up their sleeve’ in negotiations with Spurs. The German outfit ‘expect’ Kane to join them this summer after he was made their top target by Thomas Tuchel and are therefore willing to listen to the demands of Levy.
The Allianz Arena outfit currently plan for Tel to remain at the club for the foreseeable future and he is regarded as a top target, though it remains to be seen whether Tottenham can test their resolve and force a compromise with the suggestion of a player plus cash deal for Kane.
Tel is viewed by one of the most exciting prospects in the Bundesliga and, aged 18, has the potential to develop into one of France’s top forwards in the next few years – already drawing comparisons with Kylian Mbappe due to how he has burst onto the scene at Bayern last season after joining the club from Rennes.
Tel scored five Bundesliga goals in 22 appearances last season, starting just one league game. According to Transfermarkt, the talented teenager is worth £17.1million, though Bayern may regard him as a more lucrative asset and expect Kane’s valuation to be reduced markedly if their No 39 is involved in the deal.
