Both sides are in desperate need of a result and with each passing day tension seems to be on the rise among them. However, despite the far-from-cordial ties between the two sets of supporters, a good number of players have fought for either side of the battlefield.
Over the years many top Premier League guns have donned the famous jersey directly or indirectly and here we have looked at such five big names that are well popular on both sides.
1. Jimmy Greaves
Tottenham’s all-time best player and most coveted star in the history of the club, the English superstar is undoubtedly the best among the players who played for both Chelsea and Tottenham. Greaves started his career in Chelsea and even scored his first goal against Tottenham. However, following a move to AC Milan, he returned to England with Tottenham joining Spurs in 1961. He then went on to become the Spurs’ all-time top scorer with 266 goals cementing his legacy as a club legend in the North London club.
Today would have been the great Jimmy Greaves’ 83rd birthday.

2. William Gallas
Gallas played for all three of the major London clubs- Tottenham Hotspur, Chelsea, and Arsenal in his career. He began his professional career in England with Chelsea, where he helped the team win its first league championship in fifty years. Nevertheless, he was traded to Arsenal in 2006 following a controversial contract disagreement with Chelsea. But he left Emirates after four seasons and moved to Tottenham, making 78 appearances often captaining Tottenham.

3. Gus Poyet
The goal-scoring midfielder had many memorable moments in a Chelsea shirt after signing for them on a free transfer in 1997. The former Uruguayan international holds a cult status among fans following a four years stint with the Blues winning the FA Cup and the UEFA Cup Winners’ Cup. After leaving Stamford Bridge he joined Spurs where he subsequently retired before moving into management.

4. Glen Hoddle
The only person to have managed and played for Chelsea and Tottenham. Throughout his playing career, he made more than 400 total appearances for both sides. He was a part of the 1980s Tottenham side that was successful, earning FA Cup trophies in 1981 and 1982. During his return to English football from Monaco, he played and managed Chelsea before managing Spurs once again at White Hart Lane.

5. Carlo Cudicini
Carlo Cudicini has made more than 150 combined appearances in goal for both the Spurs and the Blues. The Italian goalkeeper marked his entry into the English football league with Chelsea in 1999 winning four domestic cups. Following that, he spent 10 years with Chelsea before moving on to Spurs. However, at White Hart Lane he only played sporadically.
