Spurs have been seeking a new permanent manager since sacking Antonio Conte in March and are now on the brink of securing a replacement.
According to The Athletic, Postecoglou has emerged as the ‘standout candidate’ following discussions and an agreement with Spurs is expected ‘in the coming days’.
Feyenoord head coach Arne Slot, Bayer Leverkusen’s Xabi Alonso and Julian Nagelsmann, who also held multiple talks with Chelsea, were also considered by Spurs.
Postecoglou, meanwhile, has been a major success since he arrived at Celtic in 2021.
The 57-year-old has guided the Scottish club to consecutive league titles, while his Celtic side beat Inverness in the Scottish Cup final on Saturday to secure the domestic treble.
When asked about his future after the final, Postecoglou said: ‘I deserve to enjoy this. I’m not going to miss enjoying this moment.
‘That’s all I’m going to focus on until someone grabs me by the collar and tells me I am going to have to answer some questions.’
Postecoglou is currently on a 12-month rolling contract with Celtic, which should ease negotiations with Tottenham.
