Son wasn’t as prolific as he is now under Pochettino but still regularly averaged over 10 league goals a season. Conte insists he isn’t worried by Son’s form in front of goal and he’s been unfortunate at times after hitting the woodwork and being denied by several brilliant saves against Fulham recently.
But Son’s dip in form could soon see him lose his spot as a regular starter for Tottenham with both Kulusevski and Richarlison coming in as fresh blood. Son will need to prove that he’s still the go-to man at Tottenham alongside Kane and quickly with tonight’s game against Sporting Lisbon a good opportunity to build up some momentum.
There will come a time this season – likely several – that Tottenham will need Son on top form to help them out of a hole. But Conte needs to find a way to unlock the Son which finished last season on a hot streak and end his barren spell in front of goal.
