The Tour Championship has become one of the biggest tournaments on the snooker calendar and it begins on Monday afternoon with a unique cast of characters.
It has been a highly unpredictable season so far and that is illustrated by the top eight on the one-year list who are travelling to Hull for this event.
There will be no Ronnie O’Sullivan, Judd Trump, last year’s champion Neil Robertson, last year’s runner-up John Higgins or Mark Williams among the players on show at the Tour Championship, having all missed out on the one-year rankings.
That is not to say there are no big names, though, with standout players this season like Mark Allen, Shaun Murphy and Mark Selby earning their places at the Bonus Arena.
Kyren Wilson, Ding Junhui, Ali Carter, Robert Milkins and Ryan Day complete the line-up, with £150,000 on the line for the winner and a huge boost in confidence with the World Championship just weeks away.
