Tower Bridge daredevils risk their lives as they backflip off central London landmark into Thames

Daredevil bridge jumpers have risked their lives and thrown themselves into a busy stretch of London’s River Thames, as temperatures rise across the country.

In a video shared on social media, four men in swimming trunks can be seen leaping and somersaulting from Tower Bridge.

They fall 30ft into the usually busy waterway as the sun went down over the capital, in a life-risking stunt.

‘We were all buzzing,’ 18-year-old Adam Szaniawski told The Sun. 

In the video, which shows the jump from multiple angles, onlookers stand on the busy London bridge, as the group leap from the railings.

Three members of the group jump first, with one jumping from on top of the railing, while a fourth watches them descend, before making the jump himself. 

Commenters on the video have called the stunt ‘sick’, while another said: ‘RIP. Probs like 50 diseases in that river alone.’ 

Those involved in the stunt describe themselves as photographers, and regularly post images of adrenaline-fuelled stunts, including climbing to the top of high-rise buildings.

Across the country, police forces have been issuing warnings after groups have been spotted bridge jumping into rivers and reservoirs and swimming in dangerous waters. 

On Saturday, a 16-year-old boy died after getting into difficulty in the water filling an abandoned quarry in Wigan. 

The teenager went into the water at Dawber Delph, Appley Bridge, with emergency crews recovering his body following a search.

Lancashire Fire and Rescue Service were called out alongside police and ambulance crews to search for the boy in the water.

He was pronounced dead soon afterwards, with his next of kin informed.
