The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, in addition to Transport Canada, have not yet released any information regarding this recall, but Toyota released Safety Recall 22TA07 with a remedy notice indicating that approximately 31,428 Tundras — combustion-engine and hybrid models — will be covered by the recall.
The company has offered the following advice for those who may have experienced this glitch: “First try to select the rearview camera function manually on the main multimedia screen. If the rear camera still does not display, you may also try shifting the vehicle to park, and then back to reverse. You may also try to shift the vehicle to park, turn the vehicle ignition off and back on again, which may allow the camera system to work properly.”

Toyota will notify affected owners by mail beginning in late July and advise that owners take the vehicle to a Toyota dealer to update the Parking Assist ECU software, free of charge.
This is the second recall that involves the Tundra’s panoramic view monitor system. The first recall was back in April when Toyota said the rearview image may not display (which does not comply with certain U.S. or Canadian safety requirements). If owners received the update for the previous recall, they will still need the new software update provided by this recall remedy.
