The Atlanta Hawks made a big move on Monday.
The Eastern Conference team traded forward/center John Collins to Utah Jazz for Rudy Gay and a second-round pick.
The Hawks made the move to unload Collins’ $78 million contract off their books, making room for other moves this offseason to improve the team.
Star guard Trae Young reacted to the news on social media.
“To many crazyyy memories together! Brothers for Life,” Young wrote, including pictures of him and Collins from over the years.

Young and Collins were teammates for five seasons after both players entered the league. The Hawks drafted Young with the No. 5 overall pick in 2018 while Young was selected 19th overall in the 2017 NBA Draft.
During his six seasons with the Hawks, Collins averaged 15.8 points, 8.0 rebounds, 1.5 assists on 55.1 percent shooting from the field and 35.6 percent shooting from long distance.
Now the 25-year-old begins a new chapter in the Western Conference.
