Chelsea reportedly snubbed Luis Enrique in favour of appointing Frank Lampard as interim head coach.
Spanish publication AS claims that former Barcelona and Spain boss Enrique was keen on an immediate appointment.
But the Blues apparently preferred the option of giving the job to Lampard until the end of the season, in the hope the club icon would steady the ship.
That has failed to work out, though, with the former midfielder losing his first four games in charge.
