Arsenal remain in talks with Ajax over a £41m deal for defender Jurrien Timber after striking a £105m agreeement with West Ham for Declan Rice.
The Gunners are understood to have submitted their second formal proposal for the centre-back on Monday and discussions are advanced between the two clubs.
Fabrizio Romano remains confident a deal will be struck as Arsenal close in on both Declan Rice and Timber after landing Chelsea forward Kai Havertz.
Romano said: “Jurrien Timber – second bid submitted on Monday morning from Arsenal. It’s around €45-48m(£38.6m-£41.2m), add-ons included.
“Very positive feeling, at the moment it is not yet a done deal as I’m speaking, but Arsenal are very confident.
“They have an agreement with the player on a five-year contract. So everything is almost ready between Jurrien Timber and Arsenal, just waiting on agreement between clubs. They are advancing very well in conversations.”
