0

The January transfer window is fast approaching and Premier League clubs are busy making their plans to spend this winter.

It’s just under two months until the January market opens for business and with teams reflecting on how they’ve started the campaign, it appears that a number of incomings and outgoings are already in the pipeline.

Would Ramsey be a good signing for Newcastle?

Players will also be taking stock of their situations at present with a lack of gametime or an upturn in form perhaps leading them to contact their agents ahead of a potential move.

What are the latest rumours and headlines? talkSPORT.com takes a look…

Aaron Ramsey

Everton and Newcastle are reportedly interested in signing Juventus midfielder Aaron Ramsey.

Ramsey has struggled since moving to Italy with reports that Juve are exploring the possibility of terminating his contract.

Despite his issues with form and fitness in recent years, it seems he’ll have no shortage of potential suiters back in the Premier League.

Goal claim Everton and Newcastle are keen on the 30-year-old former Arsenal star.

Kieran Trippier

Newcastle are also reportedly keen on Atletico Madrid and England full-back Kieran Trippier who is interested in moving back to the Premier League.

Trippier was linked with Manchester United over the summer and now new Toon manager Eddie Howe is keeping tabs on him, according to Spanish football expert Guillem Balague.

He said on BBC Radio 5Live: “I hear from Atletico Madrid that Newcastle are really interested in getting Trippier and they have started negotiations with his people. I am not sure if they will get him or not.”

The Telegraph add that Trippier is ‘very keen’ to return to England soon.

Trippier is under contract in Madrid until June 2023 and Atletico may well be tempted to cash in on him soon.

Frenkie de Jong

The Dutch midfielder could be used as part of a stunning £60million swap deal with Barcelona for out-of-favour Raheem Sterling.

Catalan outfit El Nacional claim Pep Guardiola is a huge admirer of De Jong while England star Sterling has been a long-term target at the Nou Camp.

The report adds that City winger Sterling – who has managed just two goals this season – would be an ideal fit in their system under new boss Xavi.

The 26-year-old is valued around £43m at the Etihad compared to Barca’s £60m for De Jong meaning a swap deal plus £17m could be on the cards.

Phil Jones

A host of clubs are keen on taking Manchester United and England defender Phil Jones on loan following his comeback from injury, report the Sun.

Newcastle have joined Watford as the two Premier League clubs in the race to land the centre-back – who hasn’t played since January 2020.

Several Championship sides are also keen as is Wayne Rooney at Derby but the finances at Pride Park would make a deal hard to pull off.

Jones still has two years left on a £130,000-a-week contract at United.

Marc Overmars

Ajax’s director of football turned down the chance to join Newcastle, according to the Athletic.

The report adds that the Dutch giants were desperate to keep Overmars and the former winger has handed them a huge boost by opting to stay.

The 48-year-old is highly coveted as one of football’s leading operators since starting his role at Ajax in 2012.

He was linked with a similar position at his former club Arsenal two years ago but again was not convinced to leave the Eredivisie champions.

Dusan Vlahovic

The Fiorentina striker is likely to turn down a move to Arsenal in January, according to Italian outlet Football Italia.

The report adds that the 21-year-old Serbian is waiting for other offers so will join Manuel Locatelli and Joaquin Correa in snubbing the Gunners.

Mikel Arteta’s side were said to have reached a principle of agreement with Fiorentina over an £68.5m move in the winter window.

Mikel Merino

Liverpool have identified the former Newcastle midfielder as an alternative transfer to Jude Bellingham.

According to Fichajes.net, Jurgen Klopp are interested in Merino because of his ‘versatility and dominant physique’.

It is fair to say the Spaniard struggled to make an impact in England and after flitting between Osasuna, Borussia Dortmund, and Newcastle he has found himself at the Anoeta Stadium.

The Reds top midfield target remains Dortmund’s Bellingham, but the England international could prove impossible to sign due to his price.

Marc-Andre ter Stegen

Newcastle have made the Barcelona and Germany goalkeeper a transfer priority, according to Spanish outlet El Nacional.

Ter Stegen has been eyed as the Magpies first signing with Martin Dubravka and Karl Darlow both not expected to be the club’s long-term No1.

Nou Camp president Joan Laporta wants to keep Ter Stegen but Newcastle are set to give incoming manager Eddie Howe a sizeable war chest.

The Toon are said to be willing to offer cash-strapped Barca €55m (£47m) for the 29-year-old – who is under contract until 2025.

Ruben Loftus-Cheek

Roma boss Jose Mourinho wants to reunite with Chelsea star Loftus-Cheek at Roma, according to Italian outlet Corriere dello Sport.

Loftus-Cheek, 25, worked under the Special One at Stamford Bridge who handed the England international his Champions League debut in 2014.

Mourinho is also said to be keen on another of his former stars Harry Winks to follow him from Tottenham to the Stadio Olimpico.

In addition, the Portuguese manager is keeping tabs on Antonio Rudiger’s contract situation having tried to sign him at Spurs during his time in charge.

Aurelien Tchouameni

Manchester United are reportedly stepping up their interest in Monaco midfielder Aurelien Tchouameni and could move for him in January.

Football Insider claim United scouts have regularly watched Tchouameni in recent weeks.

And the Red Devils are said to be ready to line up a deal for the 21-year-old if their talent spotters are suitably impressed.

Football Insider add that Tchouameni is being considered as a replacement for Paul Pogba in the United midfield.

The ex-Bordeaux ace, who has five France caps already, is under contract at Monaco until the summer of 2024.

Harry Kane

The England captain is ready to abandon all plans to quit Tottenham after the arrival of Antonio Conte.

Kane, 28, believes the Italian’s appointment can help Spurs now challenge for trophies, according to the Sun.

The striker has suffered a difficult start to the current campaign – scoring just one goal in nine Premier League appearances under Nuno Espirito Santo.

Kane still has three years left on his current deal and failed to force through a summer switch to Manchester City.
